“SUNSET PORT” BY PAULO GUEDES DE CARVALHO, TOP 10 PORTUGAL, BOLS AROUND THE WORLD 2013

SUNSET PORT

This cocktail was created to imitate the sunset by the sea at Porto. As you drink from the straw (always from the bottom of the glass!!!!!!!!), the sun starts to set on the sea. The flavors mix in a natural way until it's completely dark...

INGREDIENTS:

20 ml Bols Blue Curaçao
20 ml Pisang Ambom
30 ml Fresh Orange Juice
20 ml Ruby Port Wine
GARNISH
2 Short Straws

METHOD

This is a layered cocktail, but very easy to do.
-In an Old-Fashioned glass or a Tumbler, make a layer of broken ice that is about 1/4 of the glass.
-Gently press the ice against the bottom.
-Slowly pour the Bols Blue Curaçao.
-Make a new layer of broken ice on top of that, again 1/4 of the glass.
-Slowly pour the Pisang Ambom.
Now you have the colors of the sea.
-Make a new layer of broken ice, this time almost to the top of the glass.
-Slowly pour the Fresh Orange Juice

As a little bit of the ice as gone down, you now have room for a top of broken ice for the final layer.
-Slowly pour the Ruby Port Wine around the top of the broken ice layer.
-Gently insert the two straws until they reach the bottom of the glass, always trying not to mix the layers.
-Don't forget to tell your clients not to mix it and always drink from the bottom of the glass.
And the sun will set...
